- The letters 'CIT' form a cross, the symbol at the heart of our Catholic faith.
- A branch of the kowhai tree, in flower, is superimposed on the cross. This tree, a native of Aotearoa-New Zealand, reflects the country in which the Institute carries out its mission, and the context in which the Institute does its Theology.
- The flowering cross, a graphic representation of life from death, is a very old and traditional Christian symbol.
Sr Gael O'Leary RSM, New Zealand artist, designed the CIT logo.
